Dr. Wyckoff is a Licensed Psychologist who has been working with children and families for
over 40 years. He has an extensive background in education, including seventeen years as a
psychologist and special education administrator in the Shawnee Mission School District as
well as consultant to school districts in Chicago; St. Louis; San Francisco; Naples, Florida;
and Kansas City. He has also been chairperson of the Stop Violence Committee, a part of the
Kansas Committee for the Prevention of Child Abuse, has served on the professional advisory
boards of C.A.S.A. (Court Appointed Special Advocates), CH.A.D.D. (Children with Attention
Deficit Disorder), and Twins Magazine.
Dr. Wyckoff, along with Barbara Unell, co-authored Discipline Without Shouting or Spanking,
and Getting Your Child From No To Yes; Meadowbrook Press, How to Discipline Your Six to
Twelve Year Old Without Losing Your Mind; Doubleday, 20 Teachable Virtues; Perigee, and The
Eight Seasons of Parenthood; Random House. Dr. Wyckoff also published "Attention Deficit
Hyperactivity Disorder, Who Has It and Who Doesn't?" in School Law in Review, 1997. Dr.
Wyckoff has appeared on the nationally syndicated television program, "The Bradshaw Difference"
and on the NBC program, "Leeza." Dr. Wyckoff has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of
Kansas, Department of Human Development, a visiting professor for the University of Missouri at
Kansas City, Kansas State University, Avila College, Webster College and an Associate Professor
of Human Development at Ottawa University at Kansas City. He has also been the Clinical Director
of Youth Services for Charter Behavioral Health System of Kansas City.
