    PROGRAMS AND SERVICES OFFERED

    Intake Interview
    An initial interview scheduled with a learning specialist to assess needs and recommend a course of action appropriate to the student's goals and abilities.

    Individual Tutoring and Group Tutoring
    One-to-one tutoring and group tutoring are offered in academic areas of math, reading, natural and social sciences, and language arts. Focus is placed on skill remediation, student self-confidence and motivation. Materials students use in their coursework is integrated into the tutoring process.

    Consultation
    Consultations are provided as a resource to determine the next step in their child's educational development. Consultations provide feedback in regard to school placement, class observations, and interviews with school staff on academic or technical problems. Also, consultations are available for teacher training and designing customized workshops for schools.

    Learning Disabilities: Children and Adults
    Our staff specializes in meeting the needs of learners, at any age, with special problems. Staff members are licensed to work with children, adolescents and adults with learning disabilities and emotional blocks to learning.

    Learning Strategies
    Students are taught strategies to help them use time properly, improve listening ability, broaden knowledge or words, take notes, study for tests, improve reading comprehension and write better essays. For students with attention problems, strategies are taught to help improve short-term auditory memory, organizational skills and self-monitoring behavior. Focus is placed on establishing a coaching relationship to build skills.

    Testing and Evaluation
    Individual psychological, educational, and developmental assessments are available to aid in determining behavioral, cognitive and academic strengths and weaknesses. Special testing are also available.
